The reasons for Take Me Out’s success are twofold the first is the host. The bachelors – some eligible, some less so – have to make it through three rounds of mild to unbearable embarrassment before they are allowed to pick which girl they will whisk away at any point the women can turn out their lights if they don’t want to go out with him. Thirty women – the Flirty Thirty, if you will – stand behind lit podiums, waiting for the man of their dreams to descend in the lift and choose them for a date on the Isle of Fernando’s (better known as Tenerife). If you’ve never seen Take Me Out, it is almost unbelievably simple. And yet, even 11 years on, it persists, drawing in around three million viewers an episode. ![]() On one level, it’s entirely understandable why McGuinness’ most successful outing to date hasn’t been rewarded with its endless flashing lights and rampant sexual innuendos it’s hardly the apex of elite broadcasting. #THE LAST BASTION TV SERIES SERIES#This weekend’s show will mark the beginning of the 11th series of the dating show and stalwart of Saturday night. “We’ve never even been on the shortlist, can you believe it?” Well, no actually. “Over the years we’ve brought you eight marriages, five babies, 347 dates and zero BAFTAs,” jokes host Paddy McGuinness at the top of the new series of Take Me Out. ![]()
